| Q. What should the student wear?
A. For weekly classes, each student should wear comfortable, appropriate clothes. PLEASE NO FLIP FLOPS…wear dance shoes or tennis shoes to rehearsals. Black shoes (dance shoes, tennis shoes or any other black shoes in which student is able to move well) are needed for performances.
| Q. How do I register?
A. You may now register online. You will be notified once your registration has been processed. Payment, however, can not be accepted online. Payment is due on or before the first day of class (payment can be mailed to 104 Windorah Place Chapel Hill, NC 27517).
| Q. What will the class consist of?
A. Weekly classes will actually be rehearsals for the end of semester performances. The students will learn the music and choreography for the numbers they will perform. This teaching is enhanced with theatrical exercises and techniques showing students how to perform at their best onstage not only in the Broadway Bound productions but in any other future performances in which they will become involved.
| Q. My performer is shy. Will she/he have to sing by her/himself?
A. No, but your performer will be encouraged to perform as part of the main group. This is an excellent opportunity for shyer students to come out of his/her shell as it is a safe, non-competitive performance environment and the other children will be performing the same material.
| Q. My performer has a lot of theatrical experience. Will she/he learn anything in Broadway Bound?
A. Absolutely! Even the veteran performer will enhance his/her theatrical skills. The skilled performer would be a good leader and role model for the other younger/less-experienced performers while simultaneously learning the team effort aspect of performing. Also, those with more experience will be given more challenging material or opportunities in which to grow.
| Q. Will my performer have a solo?
A. While I always give every student a chance to shine in their area of expertise (speaking, singing, dancing), I never force anyone who does not wish to do something by themselves if they do not want to. I generally ask the student what kind of “spotlight” they want (speaking, signing, acting, etc.) and try to work it in throughout the semester or year. I also try to fit the “part” to the student. (For example, I would not assign a soprano solo to a performer with an alto voice…it could damage their vocal chords). Please be patient…everyone will get their chance to shine but it may take until the end of the year! I work hard to maintain a non-competitive environment and stress that every performer, regardless of “solos”, is important to the overall performance.
| Q. What if classes are cancelled?
A. Class schedules will be updated on the website. Usually a scheduled day off from class will be noted well in advance; however, if there is inclement weather or an emergency, I will contact everyone via email and make a note on the web page. I am a also working actor, so on occasion I may have another teaching artist sub a class for one day if I get cast in project.
| Q. What about performances?
A. These are the BEST part of Broadway Bound…finally getting a chance to showcase our learned skills and strut our stuff! While our classes will be held at Christ United Methodist Church in Southern Village, there will be two rehearsals at designated Performance Space (one to get acquainted with the space and the second for a dress rehearsal). There will be a small admission fee for the show in order to defray the cost of facility rental (or to act as a fundraiser for sponsoring facility).
| Q. Are there additional costume fees?
A. It is always my goal to have no extra fees except for the cost of tickets and optional items like DVD’s, headshots and dance shoes. Each performer will be required to provide some basic costume items, hopefully, that you already have at home. All extra props and costume pieces will be paid for and will remain property of Broadway Bound. The troupe may have an additional costume fee per semester. Again, I will keep prices as low as possible and the costumes are yours to keep after the show. Any donations and/or sponsorships made to Broadway Bound will go into the costume fund to help defray the individual costume fees for parents.
| Q. How can I get in touch with you?
A. I welcome open, positive communication about your child’s progress. I can easily be reached by email at info@bwayboundnc.com or on my cell 919-636-2216. Email is the best way to get in touch with me. I prefer phone use for issues that need discussion or “I’m running late to dress rehearsal” kind of calls. I will always send emails and update the website regarding rehearsals, performances and costumes.
| Q. What are payment procedures?
A. Class tuition is due on or by the first day of class. The fall or spring semester is a set price regardless of how many classes your performer may attend. We ask that you make every effort to attend all classes; however, we completely understand that illness or conflicts will arise upon occasion. That said, we can not pro-rate for personal absences.
Payment can be mailed directly to Erin Dangler 104 Windorah Place Chapel Hill, NC 27517. Checks should be made payable to Broadway Bound. Once registration check and form are received, the student is considered registered for class. You will be notified upon receipt!
| Q. Do you offer refunds?
A. Refunds can not be offered once classes have begun. If you have registered and paid for class before the semester has begun and need to withdraw, a refund (minus a $25 processing fee) can be issued. Emergencies will be considered on an individual basis.
| Q. I noticed that classes are held in a church. Is this a faith-based program?
A. No. While, Christ United Methodist Church and Broadway Bound have a mutually beneficial business relationship, Broadway Bound is in not a religious or faith-based program. We are just fortunate to have a church that opens its doors and rents space to community groups and businesses. Classes are open to all students from all backgrounds and walks of life!

“My daughter, Chase has Aspergers, and Erin picked up on that quickly. Her patience with Chase, and ability to make her feel at ease, is the only thing that got Chase through all the practices and the show. Erin is great with kids and is a polished professional when it comes to putting together a program that involves many different kids, numbers, acts, music, etc. If she ever comes back to Mississippi, I would allow my daughters to be a part of her productions again without giving it a second thought.”
