Acting Up

ACTING UP is Broadway Bound’s series for our older students and offers 2 classes: one designed for an older and wiser teen performer, and Broadway Bound’s adult class. Due to the longevity of students in our program, it’s time to offer something a little more in depth for the older kids! The TRIPLE THREAT JUNIORS class offers more intensive acting, dance and vocal training for those just starting out at an older age or those wanting to expand their knowledge of the performing arts.  And this semester, Broadway Bound is offering an ACTING TECHNIQUE class which will explore basic acting skills and tools, learn the actors vocabulary and build techniques through games, exercises and scene studies.

This class will teach theatrical techniques a bit more in depth while still being accessible for all in a fun and purposeful way. Students will focus on scene work in more detail and will perform a one act play at the end of the semester. In this series, all students will focus more on acting the rehearsal process, while peppering in vocal and dance training to keep students triple threat sharp.

Broadway Bound is excited to perform another, modern day story of life in the theatre in “The Rehearsal.” A young teacher tries to pull off a production of Guys and Dolls, but putting a musical together is never easy, especially with a mega-maniacal stage manager, a lead who’s convinced that Wicked is a much better show, and a girl who is clinically incapable of following directions (she has a doctor’s note to prove it). And to make matters worse, there aren’t nearly enough guys to be the Guys. A hilarious and poignant look behind the scenes of a drama club production filled with — what else? — lots of drama and some fun musical numbers from Guys and Dolls peppered throughout the performance.

“To be or not to be? That is the question.” In this class, we will explore basic acting skills and tools, learn the actors vocabulary and explore techniques through games, exercises and scene studies. All skills learned can be used for stage or screen. No experience necessary, however, actors with experience are welcome and will be given opportunities to study more challenging scene study and audition skills. Whether you are interested in becoming an actor, deepening your already established acting base or just want to play, this supportive acting class is for you!
